Polliwog Park
1601 Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Located 7 minutes from Lawndale at the Redondo Av and Manhattan Beach Blvd corner, the Polliwog Park encompasses 18 acres of area and is the biggest and perhaps the prettiest park in the South Bay Area. This park belongs to the Manhattan Beach Unified School District and is leased to Manhattan Beach City.
The focal point of this magnificent park is the large pond boarded by a natural wildlife refuge (home to migrating birds and the occasional possum or raccoon). Polliwog park is famous for performances, concerts, weddings, and other events. The park’s amphitheater looks out over the mystical pond as geese and ducks swim by, providing idyllic and scenic backdrops for any occasion.
The park has three gazebos -that can be reserved- throughout the area (in Rose Garden, the amphitheater, and next to the pond) that provide a unique spot for birthday parties, family reunions, and even anniversaries. Near the Rose Garden, you can find one of the city’s oldest beach cottages which were refurbished and moved to the site. This site houses the City’s Historical Museum, which is open to visitors and offers guided tours.
Polliwog Park also has play areas such as extensive lighthouse-inspired play apparatus with multiple slides, including misters, a spiral tube slide, a sand area, and three separate areas for young kids filled with imaginative and colorful climbing and exploration equipment. The park’s picnic area comprises several tables and barbeques, which can accommodate large groups.
