Website // 14100 Prairie Ave, Hawthorne, CA 90250

The Hawthorne Historical Society is only 5 minutes from Lawndale, towards the natural deep-water seaport in Southern California. Hawthorne Historical Society brings you closer to Hawthorne’s culture and history by providing exhibits, local history speaker events, historical reference photographs, books, walking guided tours for area school classes, personal narratives, and its annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner where well-recognized people and organization are honored.

The Hawthorne Historical Society was formed in 1974. The society’s members are committed to preserving, exploring, and sharing Hawthorne’s history and heritage, so the museum frequently holds events, waking tours, talks, and displays. Hawthorne Historical Society also conducts research to help answer questions from the public and publishes quarterly newsletters and historical publications. Hawthorne Historial Society is affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria to share information and continue growing.

The Board Members of the Hawthorne Historical Society are conformed of Hawthorne’s citizens. Their mission is to empower and inspire visitors to make the city’s richly diverse past a meaningful part of the community’s contemporary lives. Hawthorne Historical Society is a nonprofit organization funded through memberships, events, direct cash donations, and sponsorships. The museum has numerous supplies of hard copy high school yearbooks, digital vintage photographs, electronic copies of yearbooks, and historical documents, as well as logo-branded shirts, stickers, souvenirs, pins, and bookmarks both in the online store and at the museum.
