Fourth of July Parties

Los Angeles is full of options for the Fourth of July, starting with the Grand Park Block Party at 200 North Grand Ave. With over 40 food vendors and one of the biggest fireworks displays in town, it’s a major festival that’s family-friendly. The Wilshire Grand Tower at 900 Wilshire Blvd. is a favorite for checking out the fireworks with a view from one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. Bars and restaurants fill the building, and there’s no fee or reservation required to head to the 70th floor at dusk for the show.

Check out the Rose Bowl Stadium at 1001 Rose Bowl Dr. for one of the most patriotic events around. AmericaFest happens all day with motorcycle stunts, live bands, plenty of food, and tributes to military spouses. The fireworks start around 9 p.m. and free shuttle service to a nearby lot is provided.

Light Up the Night

Hop on board the Queen Mary in nearby Long Beach at 1126 Queens Hwy. for one of the most popular events of the holiday. The British ocean liner takes guests for a close view of the best fireworks along the beach. Tickets start at $44, and for those who don’t want to celebrate by sea, the fireworks can easily be seen along Alamitos Beach.

The Skyslide at 633 West 5th St. Suite 840 is located on the observation deck of the US Bank Tower. Head up 69 stories to the a glass slide and watch downtown shrink below your feet. It’s not for the faint of heart, but it does provide a fantastic view.
