Little Fish Theatre: Intimate Performances in Redondo Beach

Little Fish Theatre in Redondo Beach, California, is a small, cozy theater with a big heart. It’s a special place where people come together to enjoy live shows, connect, and experience the magic of storytelling up close and personal. With fewer than 100 seats, the audience is never far from the stage, allowing you to see the actors’ expressions clearly and feel every moment of the performance.

The theatre started back in 2002 as part of the popular Shakespeare by the Sea program. A group of passionate artists turned an old office supply store in San Pedro into a tiny but mighty performance space. As the theatre grew, it moved to a larger building that had previously been a city tow yard. The space wasn’t perfect, but the team made it their own, creating a welcoming place for people to enjoy plays.

In 2024, Little Fish Theatre moved again—this time to a larger location in Redondo Beach. It now lives in what used to be a children’s center, and the space is three times bigger than the old one. The theatre is adding a stage, lights, sound, and everything it needs to make the new place feel like home. They teamed up with the Beach Cities Health District, who also believe that art can help people feel better and more connected.

The shows at Little Fish Theatre are fun, thoughtful, and diverse in their variety. You might see a funny comedy one month and a powerful drama the next. They also keep the tradition of Shakespeare by the Sea alive every summer by presenting free performances in parks throughout Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and other nearby towns. People bring blankets, snacks, and friends, and enjoy the show under the stars.

But Little Fish Theatre isn’t just about watching plays. It’s about being part of a community. They offer opportunities for people to volunteer, meet the actors, or assist behind the scenes. It’s a place where creativity is celebrated and everyone is welcome.

Even though people can stream movies and shows anytime at home, Little Fish Theatre reminds us how special it is to watch a story unfold right before our eyes. It’s real, it’s exciting, and it brings people together in a way that screens just can’t. Whether you’re a big fan of theater or just curious to try something new, this little theatre in Redondo Beach has something great to share.
